17 Maoists killed in encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh

 

Raipur, Jan 17: At least 17 Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, police said.

The encounter that started at around 9 AM on Thursday in Bijapur ended on Friday. The team of soldiers is returning from the site of the incident.

In the encounter in the forests of Pujari Kanker and Marudbaka, 17 Naxalites have been killed, out of which the bodies of 12 have also been recovered. At the same time, a DRG soldier has also been injured. More than 1,100 security personnel from Bijapur, Sukma and Dantewada were part of the operation. Apart from this, CRPF personnel of Cobra battalion also assisted in this operation.

The encounter took place close to the border of Telangana state. In fact, the soldiers are running a big operation against the Naxalites of three districts on the border of Bijapur and Telangana.

On Thursday, a joint team of security personnel went on an anti-Naxal operation.
