Patna, Aug 18: In a stunning finding, a total of 336 AIDS patients have been detected in the Arwal district of Bihar, which sent the top authorities of the health department into a tizzy.

District Civil Surgeon of Arwal Dr R K N Sahay said it was a matter of serious concern that a total of 336 AIDS patients had been detected in the district so far. It was all the more important to note that on average, 3 to 4 AIDS patients were being detected every month in Arwal, he added.

Sahay said that a decision has been taken to launch a massive awareness drive for one month in the Arwal district to sensitise the people on how to keep themselves protected from this disease.

Simply handshaking and eating together on a table did not make anyone vulnerable to the disease, he clarified. All efforts were being made to protect people from getting infected with the disease, he assured.
