Srinagar, Sep 30: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) North Kashmir Maqsood-ul-Zaman on Monday said that 400 companies of various forces have been deployed in the three border districts of north Kashmir going to polls on Tuesday.
Polling for the third and final phase will be held on Tuesday in 40 Assembly constituencies including 16 in Kashmir spread over three districts of Kupwara, Baramulla, and Bandipora.
“All the CAPF (Central Armed Police Force ), armed police, CRPF and rest of the forces, there are around 400 companies which have been deployed in the north Kashmir range with the good cohesion and coherence for the conduction of free and fair election tomorrow”, Zaman told media persons in north Kashmir on Monday.
The deployment is in addition to the forces including the Army and Border Security Force (BSF) who are maintaining a constant vigil on the Line of Control (LoC) in the three border districts.
DIG Zaman said the deployment has been made after undertaking coordination meetings with the CAPF with good cohesion and a better understanding of each other.
“Our duty is to provide a free, fair, and peaceful atmosphere during the polling day so that the people come out to vote”, he said and added, “Our duty is to provide people a peaceful environment and to facilitate them vote whatever the candidate they want without any problem”.
DIG said that the forces have planned all the contingency plans to meet any eventuality whatever it is.
“We have made the security arrangements as per the directions of Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines and these are being strictly implemented”, he said.
