8 Fire Incidents Reported Across Kashmir Division in 24 Hours

Srinagar, Dec 24: Fire and Emergency Services recorded eight separate fire incidents across different districts of the Kashmir Division during the last 24 hours, officials said on Wednesday.

According to the department, prompt and coordinated response by firefighting teams ensured that all incidents were brought under control in time, preventing loss of human lives and limiting damage to property.

In north Kashmir, a double-storeyed residential building along with an attached cowshed was affected by fire at Firdous Colony in Delina area of Sopore. In Kupwara district, a Deodar tree caught fire at Pazalpora, Magam, while in another incident at Zangil, three Army barracks constructed of pacca structures, GCI sheets and wooden material sustained damage.

In Bandipora, a residential house was affected by a fire incident at Shah-e-Hamdan Colony in Tandpora area of Hajin. South Kashmir districts also witnessed multiple incidents, including a forest fire at Gatipora in Keller area of Pulwama, a residential house fire at Pirchoo, and damage to a cowshed at Dachoo in Zainapora area.

In central Kashmir, dry grass caught fire at Pathanpora in Nasrulla Pora area of Budgam, which was swiftly extinguished by fire personnel.

Officials said all incidents occurred within a span of 24 hours and were handled with professionalism, dedication and bravery by Fire and Emergency Services personnel across the division. Under the supervision of ADGP Fire and Emergency Services Alok Kumar, operations were conducted efficiently, ensuring that the situations did not escalate further.

The department has urged locals to remain cautious during the winter season, particularly while using electrical appliances during night hours. People have been advised to avoid overloading electrical circuits and to follow basic fire safety measures to safeguard life and property. [KNT]
