SRINAGAR:11 APRIL:As part of the Jammu & Kashmir Forest Department’s commitment to Training and Capacity Building, a one-day workshop titled “Strategies and Approaches for Qualifying the Indian Forest Examination” was organized by the Kashmir North Circle in collaboration with the Planning & Publicity Division, Srinagar. The event took place at the Conference Hall of the North Forest Headquarters, Mazbugh Sopore.
Participation
The workshop saw enthusiastic participation from around 40 civil service aspirants hailing from Baramulla and Kupwara districts.
Inaugural Session
The event commenced with a welcome address by Shri Danish Khan, SFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Planning & Publicity Division. In his opening remarks, he highlighted the initiative as part of the Forest Department’s Youth Connect program, aimed at guiding aspirants preparing for the prestigious Indian Forest Service Examination (IFoS).
Technical Session
The lead session was conducted by Shri Ashish Bisnoi, IFS, who delivered a detailed presentation on:
Eligibility criteria for the Indian Forest Examination
Preparation strategies and study approaches
Time management and consistency
Optional subject selection
Drawing from his personal experience, Shri Bisnoi offered practical insights and motivated participants through a highly engaging and interactive session. Attendees actively raised questions and had their queries addressed in depth.
Concluding Address
In his valedictory remarks, Shri Irfan Ali Shah, IFS, Conservator of Forests, Kashmir North Circle, praised the potential of the local youth and emphasized the importance of raising awareness about the Indian Forest Service. He encouraged aspirants to pursue careers in the green sector with passion, commitment, and integrity.
Shri Shah highlighted the significance of local representation in the forest services and shared plans for future workshops and outreach programs in collaboration with NGOs, educational institutions, and stakeholders across Kupwara and Baramulla.
“We are committed to supporting the aspirations of young boys and girls of both Kupwara and Baramulla and contributing to their success,” he stated.
Community Response
The initiative was widely appreciated by civil society and local residents, who expressed hope that such programs would not only inspire youth toward prestigious civil services but also act as a positive deterrent against social evils, including drug abuse. They urged the department to continue such impactful initiatives in the future.
