Session to begin with LG’s address on Feb 02; House to break for 1 month recess during Ramdhan
Srinagar, Jan 12: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will present Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory’s second budget on February 6, 2025.
According to the tentative calendar issued by the Legislative Assembly Secretariat, a copy of which is in possession of news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the session will begin on February 2 with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s address to the House, which will be his third since the formation of the elected government in October 2024.
After LG’s address, the Assembly Secretariat has reserved three days for discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the LG’s address, scheduled for February 3, 4 and 5, with the Chief Minister replying to the debate on February 05.
The annual financial statement for 2026-27 and supplementary statement of expenditure for 2025-26 will be presented in the House on February 06.
The general budget discussion will take place on February 7, 9 and 10, followed by the Finance Minister’s reply.
As per tentative calendar, seven days have been earmarked for demand of grants between February 11 and 19, after which the Assembly will go into recess for one month and eight days. The session will resume on March 27 with the passage of the budget.
As per calendar, March 28 has been reserved for government business, March 30 and April 1 for Private Member Bills, March 31 and April 2 for Private Member Resolutions, and April 4 again for government business—(KNO)
