Amit Shah chairs high-level meet on Manipur, directs security forces to maintain L&O

New Delhi, Nov 18: Amid rising incidents of violence in Manipur, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level meeting and reviewed the security situation in the state with senior security officials for the second consecutive day on Monday.

According to sources, the Home Minister directed the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and the state police to maintain peace and order in the state, .

Meanwhile, the Central Government is also increasing the deployment of Central Police Forces to maintain law and order in the state and 50 additional companies of Central Police Forces are being deployed.

It may be mentioned that the centre had earlier deployed 20 companies there.

In view of the latest spurt in violent incidents in Manipur, Shah on Sunday had left the election campaign programme in Maharashtra and returned to Delhi where he reviewed the situation in Manipur in an emergency meeting with senior security officials in the North Block.

It may be mentioned that after the latest incidents of violence in Manipur, curfew has been imposed in many districts and internet services have also been shut in some areas.

Moreover, angry mob also vandalised the houses of some MLAs and ministers in the state.

On Saturday, the Union Home Ministry had directed the security forces to take necessary steps to maintain law and order and take strict action against the miscreants in Manipur.
