Anantnag: In an ongoing effort to eliminate child labour, rescue and rehabilitation of children in street situation under PAN India Progamme ,the Mission Vatsalya Anantnag has launched an intensive drive aimed at raising awareness about the harmful effects of child labour and implementing measures to ensure the protection and welfare of children. The campaign which started from Janglat Mandi Anantnag covering the main market of Anantnag with the objective to educate communities, support government enforcement of child protection laws, and encourage businesses to adopt child labour free business.
During the drive 09 children were identified involved in begging and in street situation. On the spot the parents were sensitized about the consequences of placing the children in street situation and involve them in begging and in other activities. Most of the children who have been identified were non locals and their parents have been sensitized and counseled not to engage them in any activity which confronts the provisions of JJ Act 2015.
We urge citizens to report any cases of child labour they encounter to the authorities. Through collective effort, we can ensure a brighter future for all children, free from exploitation and full of opportunities for learning and growth.
Members of Child Welfare Committee Mr Sajad Ahmad Rather, Mr. Reyaz Ahmad Shah, LCPO Sana Din, Counselor Anjuman Ayoub, PONIC Mr Sajad Ahmad Hakeem, officials from Child Help Line Anantnag actively performed the drive and urged people to discourage any activity which is not in the best interest of children.
The officials also requested to people to report such cases on Toll free no 1098 and also can contact CWC, DCPU anantnag. Mr Muzaffar Ahmad Malik District Child Protection Officer Anantnag appreciated the work of officials and is committed to continue such types of drives and initiatives so that menace of child labour will be eradicated from the district.
