BJP wants to set J&K on fire like Manipur: alleges Congress

Srinagar, Sep 13: Senior Congress leader Salman Soz on Friday alleged that Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) wants to set Jammu and Kashmir on fire like Manipur, but the people here won’t let that happen.

He said that BJP is playing “tricks and trying to divide Kashmiris” ahead of the Assembly election.

“ They( BJP) consider themselves as clever and are trying to divide Kashmiris. They are pitting brother against brother and separating them for their politics. And that’s why Manipur is burning. They want to set Jammu and Kashmir on fire, too, but the people here won’t let that happen,” Soz alleged while addressing a press conference in Srinagar.

He said this time everyone is united and was confident that the INDI alliance government will be formed in Jammu and Kashmir

The people of Jammu and Kashmir will have their own government. And from what I see, the next government in the UT will be formed by the National Congress and Congress- the INDI alliance. It will be a people’s government, addressing the people’s issues,” the Senior Congress leader said.

Soz accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the BJP for “immensely harassing” the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

“They have inflicted great wounds on the hearts of people here. Because of them, we no longer have statehood. They have disrespected us. They have ruined the future of our youth. You know that the youth unemployment rate in Jammu and Kashmir is currently the second-highest in India.

The unemployment rate for women in Jammu and Kashmir is the highest in India,” the Congress leader said.

He said the resources of Jammu and Kashmir were not available to its people.

Most government contracts are given to outsiders. This is not a hidden fact. Even the sand of Jammu and Kashmir is not ours. This is the state they have put Jammu and Kashmir in. …Now they say that we will increase tariffs… Who are you? Your government here is about to end,” Soz said.
