Comprehensive arrangements, including multi-tier security in place for R Day function

Srinagar, Jan 24 : As preparations for Republic Day reach their final stages, Kashmir’s Divisional Commissioner and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Friday assured the public of comprehensive arrangements, including multi-tier security, to ensure the smooth conduct of celebrations across the region.

Speaking to the media after the full dress rehearsal at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar, the Divisional Commissioner Vijay Kumar Bidhuri extended his gratitude to the public for their continuous support and participation.

“This is a significant occasion for all of us… Despite the harsh cold of ‘Chillai Kalan,’ children and performers have been putting in immense effort to make the cultural programs and parade a success. We urge everyone to attend and be a part of this festival,” he said.

He further advised the public to carry their identity cards for entry and arrive on time to secure good seating.

“There are no passes required, but being punctual will help ensure a better experience. We’ve made arrangements for LED screens and other facilities to accommodate everyone comfortably,” he added.

When asked about security in light of recent incidents, the Divisional Commissioner emphasized that all necessary arrangements were in place.

“.. I assure you that every measure has been taken to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for the public,” he said. “This is a festival for all of us. Come and celebrate together.”

IGP Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, elaborated on the security measures, stating that the Jammu and Kashmir Police have implemented multi-tier security systems across all venues.

“Today, dress rehearsals have been conducted in all districts of the Valley, focusing on the parade, cultural programs, and security arrangements for January 26. We have also utilized technology and other resources to strengthen the security apparatus,” he said.

He acknowledged the presence of inputs regarding potential threats but reassured the public that the J&K police are vigilant and prepared to address any challenges.

“The Jammu and Kashmir Police are continuously working on actionable intelligence to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure the safety of all participants,” the IGP stated.

Meanwhile, full dress rehearsals were held in all the districts across Kashmir.
