Srinagar, Sep 13: Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Friday issued show cause notices to several party leaders for breach of alliance unity.
Several Congress leaders have filed their nomination papers from different assembly segments as Independent candidates across J&K for the Assembly election.
National Conference and Congress are jointly contesting the assembly election and as per the seat sharing agreement, NC is contesting on 51 seats, Congress on 32 while one seat each was left to smaller allies CPI(M) and Panthers party.
The NC and Congress are locked in a friendly contest on five seats. However, in some assembly constituencies, Congress as well as NC leaders have filed nominations as Independent candidates against alliance candidates.
A Congress spokesman said the party has taken strong notice of breach of alliance unity by several party leaders, who have filed their nomination papers against the alliance spirit.
“The party has sought explanation from these leaders within three days from now failing which strict disciplinary action shall be initiated against them,” the spokesman said .
