Director SKIMS unfurls tricolor, outlines hospital achievements and expansion plans on Republic Day

Srinagar, Jan 26: Director, Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Prof Muhammad Ashraf Ganie, on Monday highlighted key achievements and future plans of the institute, saying SKIMS continues to progress despite operational challenges and remains committed to quality healthcare delivery.

Speaking after unfurling the National Flag at SKIMS Soura on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day, Prof Ganie said the mission of service at the institute is deeply rooted in the constitutional values of equity, care, and responsibility. He said SKIMS has maintained a steady growth trajectory while strengthening its role as a leading tertiary care and research institution.

The Director said the progress of the hospital has been a collective effort, acknowledging the contribution of employees across all cadres. He said doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, and support personnel have been working in close coordination to ensure uninterrupted patient care and institutional development.

Highlighting recent developments, Prof Ganie said SKIMS has undertaken several initiatives on a fast track basis, including the expansion of specialised medical services and the upgradation of emergency care facilities. He said employee promotions and the filling of referred posts through recruiting agencies have also been taken up to strengthen manpower.

He added that further enhancement of human resources and essential services is expected in the near future to meet increasing patient load and improve service efficiency. The Director also said the work being done at SKIMS has received recognition from the public and government authorities, reflecting growing trust in the institution.

The Republic Day function was attended by senior administrators, faculty members, and staff of SKIMS. A ceremonial parade led by SKIMS Security, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF personnel was held, while students from Budgam presented a cultural performance during the event. [KNT]
