New Delhi, Oct 1 : Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to vote in large numbers as this is a final chance to teach a lesson to those who snatched their statehood.
On social media site X, Kharge said, “As voting for the third phase of the Jammu and Kashmir elections commences, I urge the people in these 40 Assembly seats to exercise their Democratic rights in large numbers.”
“This is the final chance to teach a lesson to those who snatched statehood from the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” said the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha.
He said that a single vote has the power to change the destiny of J&K people and usher in a brighter future, that will secure their constitutional rights.
He said, “A single vote is valuable enough to ensure better employment opportunities for the young, take on the corrupt, safeguard your land rights, and ensure progress and prosperity.”
“We welcome the first time voters, for the future course for Jammu and Kashmir shall be decided by their participation. Once again, I request you to join the voting queue,” he said.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, while urging the people of the Union Territory to vote for INDIA bloc said that only the “alliance will secure the foundation of the future of Jammu and Kashmir and will give you the strength to fight for your rights”.
He said, “This election is an election of the self-respect of the state, an election of the rights of the people of the state. I urge all to come out of their homes in large numbers and vote for INDIA.”
