Deputy Labour Commissioner Kashmir Provides Information to Workers on New Labour Codes
Pulwama / Tanha Ayaz: For the first time in Pulwama, a free medical camp for workers was organised, arranged jointly by the AYUSH Department and the Chief Medical Office. On this occasion, the Labour Department also provided workers with information regarding the new labour codes.
According to details, a free medical camp along with an awareness programme by the Labour Department was organised for workers employed at the SIDCO Industrial Estate, Lassipora, Pulwama. The free medical camp was jointly organised by the AYUSH Department and the Chief Medical Office, Pulwama. A significant number of workers underwent medical check-ups and also received free medicines.
An awareness programme was also organised by the Labour Department, Pulwama, in which Deputy Labour Commissioner Kashmir, Najwan Nazki, participated as the chief guest. Those present at the programme included District Labour Officer Pulwama Parvez Ahmad Thokar, Labour Officer Srinagar Sheikh Shoukat Shafi, Assistant Labour Welfare Officer Pulwama Ijaz Ahmad, District Nodal Officer AYUSH Pulwama Dr Farooq Naqshbandi, prominent social activist Mohammad Altaf Butt, representative of the District Legal Services Authority Pulwama Ashiq Hussain, and the BMO Pulwama.
During the programme, experts from the Labour Department provided detailed information to workers about their rights and the new labour codes. Addressing the gathering, Ashiq Hussain shared information about free legal aid provided by the District Legal Services Authority, Pulwama. On the occasion, District Nodal Officer AYUSH Pulwama Dr Farooq Naqshbandi also suggested certain preventive measures to protect the working class from diseases.
Later, while speaking to the media, Deputy Labour Commissioner Kashmir Najwan Nazki said that the primary objective of the awareness programme was to educate workers about the new labour laws so that the labour and working class could gain complete knowledge of labour codes and their rights. District Nodal Officer AYUSH Dr Farooq Naqshbandi, while talking to the media, said that besides workers, members of the general public also availed treatment at the medical camp. He added that AYUSH would continue to organise medical camps for workers in the future.
Although free medical camps are regularly organised in Pulwama, today the district administration Pulwama organised a medical camp exclusively for workers for the first time. Social activist Mohammad Altaf Butt thanked the district administration Pulwama, especially the Health Department, AYUSH Department, Labour Department, and the District Legal Services Authority Pulwama, for this initiative.
