Five doctors killed in road accident in Kannauj district

 

Kannauj, Nov 27: Five doctors posted in Saifai Medical College were killed in a road accident in Kannauj district here in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, police sources said.

“Five doctors of Saifai Medical College died in a road accident in Kannauj, Tirwa, on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway at around 3:30 am on Wednesday,” they said.

Police sources said the speeding SUV broke the divider and came into the other lane. “After this a truck hit the vehicle. The collision was so severe that the SUV kept dragging for several meters,” they said.

Police sources said that the accident happened on Wednesday morning when a car, carrying the victims from Lucknow back to Saifai, veered out of control and smashed into an oncoming truck.

Police sources said that there were 6 people in the SUV, of whom 5 died on the spot. The condition of one is critical. All the doctors who died were doing PG from Saifai Medical College.

Police sources said that after getting the information, the police reached the spot and somehow cut the car and took out all the dead bodies and injured.”As soon as the accident was reported, the staff of the Medical College University reached the spot. All were taken to the district hospital, where 5 doctors were declared dead. One seriously injured has been admitted,” they said.The deceased have been identified as Anirudh Verma, Santosh Kumar Morya, Arun Kumar, Nardev, and an unidentified person.
