Tel Aviv/Washington, Mar 24: Iranian missile strikes caused significant damage in Tel Aviv early Tuesday, as conflicting signals from Donald Trump and Iran over possible talks added fresh uncertainty to the escalating West Asia conflict.
Israeli authorities said Iran launched seven waves of missiles in less than 10 hours since midnight, with multiple impact sites reported in central Israel, including Tel Aviv. Visuals from the city showed damaged buildings, burning vehicles and thick plumes of smoke, as emergency teams rushed to affected areas, US media reported.
Air raid sirens also sounded in Dimona, near the sensitive Negev Nuclear Research Center, underscoring the widening scale of the attacks.
The Israel Defense Forces said search and rescue teams were deployed to several impact locations, while confirming that Iran’s missile barrages continued through the night.
At the same time, Israel intensified its offensive, with the air force striking more than 50 targets across Iran, including missile launch sites and military infrastructure. Israeli officials said over 3,000 targets have been hit in Iran since the conflict began.
On the diplomatic front, Trump said the United States had reached “major points of agreement” with Iran following talks over the weekend, and announced a five-day pause on planned strikes against Iranian power plants.
He told media that there were “15 points of agreement” and indicated progress in efforts to de-escalate tensions, after earlier warning of military action if Tehran did not reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
However, Iran swiftly rejected the claim, with its foreign ministry stating there had been “no dialogue” with Washington, contradicting Trump’s assertion and casting doubt over any immediate breakthrough.
The conflicting narratives have added to global uncertainty, even as markets reacted positively to Trump’s remarks, with oil prices easing and Asian equities posting early gains.
The latest escalation marks one of the most intense phases of the ongoing conflict, with both sides continuing heavy strikes even as diplomatic signals remain deeply divided.Iranian missile alert briefly halts Knesset session
