J&K Police arrest 4 drug peddlers in Srinagar

 

Srinagar, Dec 19: Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested four drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession in Srinagar.

A police party of Kralkhud Police Station intercepted a vehicle at a checkpoint established at Kralkhud Chowk with two persons on board. During their search, 4 grams of heroin were recovered from their possession, police said on Thursday.

The duo has been identified as Nadeem Shafi Kashani, a resident of Sathoo Payeen Barbarshah, and Ashiq Ahmed Hundoo of Abi-Karpora Dalgate, presently staying at Hamdania Colony, Bemina, have been arrested, and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime was also seized.

Police also arrested two drug peddlers at a checkpoint established at Safakadal in downtown Srinagar and recovered 11 bottles of codeine phosphate and 30 strips of tapentadol (banned drugs) from their possession.

They have been identified as Nabeel Showkat Zargar, a resident of Safakadal Haftayarbal, and Shahriyar Ahmad Mir of Rathpora Eidgah.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations, and investigations have been initiated, police added.
