J&K Police arrest wanted drug peddler in Srinagar

 

Srinagar, Dec 9 : Jammu and Kashmir police arrested a wanted drug peddler and booked him under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PITNDPS Act) in Srinagar on Monday.

The infamous drug peddler has been identified as Adil Rashid Bhat alias Raj Tanker of Usmanabad Bemina who was evading arrest and had fled to Jammu and then to Delhi.

However, due to the resolute efforts of the Police, on December 6, 2024, he was apprehended by Police Station Batamaloo and has been lodged in Central Jail Srinagar to serve his detention under the PIT-NDPS Act, police said.

“The accused person was involved in several cases of drug peddling under Shergari, Baramulla, and Batamaloo Police stations, they said.

“Keeping in view his persistent involvement in the illicit sale and distribution of drugs and narcotics through illegal networks among the youth, a comprehensive dossier was prepared by Srinagar Police, and the warrants for lodging him in jail under PIT-NDPS Act were obtained from Divisional Commissioner Kashmir”, police added.

Srinagar Police has attached many properties of drug peddlers worth crores of rupees which they had allegedly accumulated through the sale of illegal drugs recently.
