Srinagar, Sep 17: A day before the first phase of Assembly election, General Officer Commanding of the Army’s Srinagar based Chinar Corps, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai on Tuesday visited north Kashmir and exhorted troops to remain steadfast and focused towards safeguarding peace and stability.
Lt General Ghai visited the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion deployed in the counter terrorism grid in north Kashmir to review the security situation.
The visit came three days after a gun battle that left three local militants dead in an encounter in Baramulla district in north Kashmir. After the gun battle, Army said the operation was a major success for security forces in thwarting Pakistan’s nefarious designs aimed at disrupting peace in the Kashmir Valley ahead of the polls.
Army’s Chinar Corps posted on X that Lt General Ghai interacted with troops.
“ChinarCorps Commander visited Rashtriya Rifles Battalion deployed in Counter Terrorism Grid in North Kashmir to review the security situation.
