Srinagar, Sep 11 : For the first time, a large number of Kashmiri Pandits participated in the Ganesh idol immersion procession, on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday.
Kashmiri Pandits, traveling in over 100 vehicles from the Vessu Migrant Colony, carried the Ganesh idol to Sangam, where the idol was peacefully immersed in the waters with great religious fervour.
The procession began at 4 PM from the Vessu Migrants Colony and proceeded to Sangam for the immersion.
The event was organized by Vessu Welfare Committee, representing the Kashmiri Pandits residing in the Anantnag district.
“This is the first time I have witnessed such an occasion in my life. It would not have been possible without the support of our Muslim brethren,” Anil Kumar Raina, a participant in the procession, told UNI.
Authorities had made adequate security and other arrangements along the route from Vessu to Sangam to facilitate the smooth conveyance of the Ganesh devotees.
