Srinagar, Dec 26: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday expressed concern over the alleged harassment faced by the Kashmiri Shawl sellers in Himachal Pradesh and urged Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister for his intervention to ensure a safe environment for the traders.
Mebooba said such incidents would further alienate the Kashmiris from the mainstream and urged the Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh to intervene.
“Kashmiri shawl sellers in Himachal Pradesh’s Bilaspur District are facing harassment, assault, and threats from right-wing groups”, the PDP President posted on her social media handler X on Thursday.
Mehbooba alleged that despite proper documents, they’re being barred from doing business and evicted.
“This is the third such incident, highlighting a worrying pattern of targeted violence. This othering of Kashmiris will alienate them further”, the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister said.
“I urge Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhu Suhvinder to intervene and ensure a safe environment for these traders.”, Mehbooba said.
