Maharashtra: 7995 candidates file nominations for 288 Assembly seats

 

Mumbai, Oct 30: Altogether 10,995 nomination papers have been filed by 7995 candidates as of the last day for the coming Maharashtra Assembly election to 288 seats.

Nearly 11,000 nomination papers were filed for 288 assembly constituencies of Maharashtra State Legislative, according to the Office of the State Chief Electoral Officer on Wednesday.

The Model Code of Conduct for Maharashtra Assembly General Election came into force on October 15, and the Election Notification was released on October 22.

October 29 was the last date for filing nomination papers.

The applications received till the last date will be scrutinised on Wednesday (today), and the applications can withdraw their papers up to November 4.

Voting will be held on November 20, and counting of votes will be held on November 23, the statement added.

Main fights will be seen between the Mahayuti and Mahavikas Agadhi alliances.

However, MNS, Vanchit Bahujan Agadhi, AIMIM, Mahaparivatran Agadhi, and BSP are going to contest the election without any alliance with other parties.

Also, Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil factor will also put their nomination in Maratha dominant constituencies. But Jarange will take the final decision, whether to contest the election or to defeat the candidates who are not supporting their movement on Wednesday itself.
