Mock Drill Held at Qazigund Railway Station to Test Emergency Response

Kulgam, Jan 19: Kulgam Police, in coordination with central and allied agencies, conducted a mock drill at Qazigund Railway Station on Monday to enhance preparedness against terrorist threats and other emergency situations.

Officials said the exercise was carried out jointly by Kulgam Police along with the Central Armed Police Forces, the Government Railway Police Force, and the Fire and Emergency Services. The drill aimed to assess response time, inter-agency coordination, and operational effectiveness during critical incidents.

Specialist officers and response teams from the participating forces took part in the exercise. The operation was supervised by the Senior Superintendent of Police Kulgam, Anayat Ali Chowdhary. The SDPO Qazigund and other field officers were also present to oversee execution at the ground level.

Police officials said the drill provided an opportunity to identify gaps in response mechanisms and fine-tune standard operating procedures. Coordination, communication, and deployment strategies were tested in real-time conditions to ensure readiness during emergencies.

Kulgam Police said such exercises form part of regular preparedness initiatives aimed at ensuring public safety, particularly at sensitive and high-footfall locations like railway stations.

Authorities said similar drills will continue to be conducted to strengthen coordination among agencies and enhance overall security preparedness in the district. [KNT]
