Srinagar, Feb 1: National Conference leader and MLA Tanvir Sadiq on Saturday described the Union budget as ‘balanced’ but demanded inclusion of Jammu and Kashmir in medical tourism and 50 tourist destinations which is announced in the budget.
“We are expecting that with the announcement of 50 tourist destinations and medical tourism in the Union Budget, Jammu and Kashmir will be included in this”, Sadiq, who is also Chief spokesperson of National Conference, told media persons in Srinagar.
The Union Budget was presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament on Saturday.
Sadiq also demanded a package for Jammu and Kashmir.
He said prima facie the Union Budget seems balanced .
“Let the figures emerge and we will thoroughly talk about it”, he said.
The NC MLA said there are some encouraging steps mentioned in the budget including the rebate on the drugs.
He said the reduction in the drugs is a positive thing in the Union Budget.
“The people are expecting that with 50 new tourist destinations and medical tourism announced in the Union budget, Jammu and Kashmir will become a part of that”, the National Conference leader said.
“Jammu and Kashmir is a tourism hub and with the announcement of medical tourism in the Union budget, Jammu and Kashmir will be included”, he added.
Asked that there has been no mention of unemployment in the Union Budget, Sadiq said “it is the beginning and the figures of the Union budget are emerging”.
When said that the state budget has to be presented in the Assembly, he said “We are expecting that the budget would be people’s friendly as it is being presented after a long time by an elected government”.
“The central government should keep in mind the mandate given by the people to the elected government and should announce a good package for employment, economic development, traders, houseboat owners, business class and the people related to tourism in Jammu and Kashmir”, Sadiq said.
