No doubt, Ram Madhav of BJP and PDP had good relations: Omar

Srinagar, Sep 2: National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Monday said that if there was any political party that had good relations with the Ram Madhav it was Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

National General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Ram Madhav was recently named by the party as the election in-charge for poll-bound Jammu and Kashmir.

“There is no doubt if Ram Madhav has good relations with any party that is PDP”, the former Chief Minister told media persons in the Kangan area of Ganderbal district after NC candidate Mian Mehar Ali filed his nomination papers from the seat on Monday.

When Omar was asked about former J&K Governor, Satya Pal Malik’s comments on Madhav and PDP, Omar said Malik had a close relationship with the BJP and they had appointed him as the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.

“It was Ram Madhav who brought PDP and BJP to a common platform for alliance (in 2014).Maybe he has been again tasked with this job,” Omar said.

Regarding the joining of former Hurriyat leaders in the PDP, he said, “It’s a good thing if these people are contesting elections, whichever party they join, at least they have trust in democracy, which is a success for us.”

“Ideologies change, earlier when elections used to take place, they would raise slogans of boycott, now somehow their ideology has changed,” he said.

Abdullah said, “Our stance has been proven right, we have been saying since the 90s that bloodshed will not bring any change, our associates have been targeted, whatever we have to achieve, can be achieved through democratic means.”

In reply to another question about randomly opening wine shops in Kashmir, Omar said, “Let our government hold the charge and we will take action”. He said that the unprecedented opening of wine shops should be stopped and reviewed.

Omar hoped that Mehar Ali- son of Member Parliament Mian Qayoom, would carry forward the legacy of his family.

“He is the fourth generation of the Mian family contesting polls from Kangan and this shows this family commitment to serve the people,” Omar said.
