PDP leader Para urges Railway Minister for Vande Bharat Express halt at Awantipora

Srinagar, Nov 29: Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Pulwama MLA Waheed Para on Friday urged Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to establish Vande Bharat Express stop at Awantipora Railway station in south Kashmir.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate Vande Bharat train in January 2025 and it would directly connect Kashmir to New Delhi.

The PDP leader while appealing for a halt at Awantipora station highlighted the region’s significance and noted that Awantipora houses several key establishments, including the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), an airfield, a major university, and an emerging industrial hub.

He said that the stop of Vande Bharat train at Awantipora would play a crucial role in development and accessibility for the region.

“Strongly urging for a Vande Bharat Express stop at Awantipora, Pulwama! Home to AIIMS, Awantipora Airfield, a major university, and a growing industrial hub, this stop is vital for South Kashmir’s connectivity and development. Requesting @AshwiniVaishnaw Ji and @RailMinIndia to consider Pulwama’s strategic importance,” Para said in a post on X.
