Jammu, Nov 18: Police have cracked the murder case of a woman and arrested the son-in-law on Monday in Ramnagar tehsil of Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said a murder case has been solved within 12 hours in which a woman was murdered by her son-in-law after an altercation.
Police started the investigation after a case was registered at the Ramnagar Police Station.
One Shanti Devi, of village Kiya, under Ramnagar Tehsil was attacked with an axe by her son-in-law Suresh Kumar at her home during late hours on Sunday.
The accused murdered his mother-in-law and inflicted serious injuries on his wife, Lalita Devi, and sister-in-law, Anju Devi, and fled away from the scene of the crime.
After receiving information police rushed to the spot along with FSL teams took the body into their custody, and shifted the injured to the hospital.
A Police team led by Station House Officer, Ramnagar Police Station carried out searches in the area and arrested the accused.
Further investigation in the case is going on, said police.
