Srinagar, Dec 28 : Amid the heavy snowfall, District Police Baramulla on Saturday advised tourists and locals travelling to the ski resort of Gulmarg to equip their vehicles with anti-skid snow chains and plan their journeys within permissible vehicle movement from 8 AM to 6 PM.
The advisory was issued hours after Army said they evacuated tourists stranded in the ski resort of Gulmarg district due to heavy snowfall that began on Friday afternoon.
Gulmarg, a premier winter destination in Kashmir, is renowned for its snow-clad landscapes and winter sports like skiing and snowboarding, attracting snow enthusiasts from across the country.
The police advisory said that vehicle movement on the Gulmarg-Tangmarg road is permitted only from 8 AM to 6 PM.
“Plan your journey carefully to avoid traveling outside these hours,” the advisory said.
It is also mandatory that all vehicles even 4×4 are equipped with anti-skid snow chains.
The travelers have been advised to ensure full fuel tanks and confirm that the battery, brakes, lights, windshield wipers, and defrosters of the vehicles are in good condition
The advisory has asked travelers to avoid traveling during snowstorms.
The travelers have been asked to carry emergency supplies, including food, warm clothing, and first-aid kits.
