Post pandemic J&K witnesses 300 pc rise in foreign tourism: Sinha

 

Srinagar, Jun 26 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Wednesday that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed unprecedented growth post Covid pandemic and there was a roughly 300 per cent year-on-year (YoY) increase in foreign tourists.

“Efforts are on to develop Jammu and Kashmir as one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world,” he said while addressing J&K Tourism Development Conclave here.

He said greater efforts and attention were paid to new policies, conducive environment, stimulus for the tourism industry and new experiences and value creation for year-round employment.

“We have witnessed unprecedented growth post Covid pandemic and roughly 300 per cent YoY increase in foreign tourists,” the Lt Governor said.

He said under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the new era in Jammu and Kashmir has created international interest while also encouraging domestic tourists to visit J&K.

“This transformation is enriching local communities and helping us to build a modern tourism industry,” he said.

“Increase in domestic tourist arrivals is testament to the strength and potential of our holistic approach for the development of the tourism sector and developing partnership between industry and communities for growth of associated business activities and employment,” the Lt Governor said.

The Lt Governor was pleased to address J&K Tourism Development Conclave today, which was attended by the esteemed members from industry, film, trade and travel management agencies.
