After several days of disruption caused by heavy snowfall, normalcy is gradually returning to Karnah. The restoration of the vital Sadna Pass road and the resumption of helicopter services have brought major relief to the people of this border area.

Continuous snowfall had forced the closure of Sadna Pass, severely affecting vehicular movement and the supply of essential commodities. As weather conditions improved, BEACON authorities, in close coordination with the Kupwara district administration, launched a large-scale snow clearance operation and restored road connectivity in the shortest possible time.

With the reopening of the road, stranded passengers resumed their journeys, while vehicles carrying essential supplies such as food items, vegetables and medicines crossed the pass, significantly easing the hardships faced by the local population.

However, keeping in view the accumulated snow and the safety of commuters, the authorities have allowed only one-way traffic between Karnah and Kupwara for the time being, in accordance with official advisories. The public has been urged to strictly follow traffic regulations and exercise caution while travelling to higher reaches during the winter season.

Meanwhile, the timely resumption of helicopter services has provided additional relief, especially for patients, elderly citizens and those requiring emergency travel.

Local residents have widely appreciated the Kupwara district administration for its prompt response, hard work and effective management in restoring essential connectivity in a short span of time despite harsh weather conditions.
