Russia terrorist attacks kill 15 law enforcement officers, 4 civilians

Moscow, June 24 : Fifteen law enforcement officers, four civilians, including an Orthodox priest, were killed in terrorist attacks in Dagestan as per preliminary data, the Investigative Committee of Russia said on Monday.

On Sunday evening, unknown gunmen opened fire at two churches, a synagogue and a traffic police station in the cities of Derbent and Makhachkala, prompting authorities to launch a counterterrorist operation. Earlier in the day, the National Antiterrorism Committee said that the operation had been completed.

“According to preliminary data, 15 law enforcement officers were killed, as well as four civilians, including an Orthodox priest,” the committee said in a statement.

Additionally, five gunmen involved in terrorist attacks have been eliminated, the statement read, adding that their identities have been established.
