Srinagar, Nov 2: A soldier deployed on road opening duty in Jammu & Kashmir summer capital lost his life in an alleged accidental firing incident on Saturday, officials said.
They said an investigation has started to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Officials said the weapon of the soldier who was deployed in the Rawalpora area of Srinagar went off accidentally, causing critical injuries.
“He was critically injured and was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival,” a senior security official said.
The soldier’s identity has not yet been determined, and the incident temporarily caused panic in the area for some time.
