Teacher, Pharmacist Sacked On LG’s Orders In First Such Action In Omar-led Govt

Srinagar, Nov 29: Two employees, one of them a teacher and another pharmacist, were sacked by invoking Article 311 of the Indian constitution by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, officials said on Friday.

While numerous employees have been terminated post 2019 in terms of sub-clause (c) of the proviso to clause (2) of Article 311 of the Constitution of India, the sacking of the teacher and the pharmacist were first after the Omar Abdullah led government took oath in Jammu and Kashmir earlier this year.

The employees have been identified as Zahir Abbas, teacher in School Education Department, son of Irshad Ahmad R/o Badhat Saroor, Kishtwar, and Ab. Rehman Naika, Pharmacist in Health and Medical Education Department, son of Mohd Assan Naika of Qasba Devsar, Kulgam

“The Lieutenant Governor is satisfied after Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and on the basis of the information available, that the activities of Mr. Zahir Abbas, Teacher in

School Education Department S/o Irshad Ahmad R/o Badhat Saroor, District Kishtwar are such as to warrant his dismissal from service,” read an order, a copy of which lies with GNS.

“…the Lieutenant Governor is satisfied under sub-clause (c) of the proviso to clause (2) of Article 311 of the Constitution of India that in the interest of the security of the State, it is not expedient to hold an enquiry in the case of Mr. Zahir Abbas, Teacher in School Education Department S/o Irshad Ahmad R/o Badhat Saroor, District Kishtwar. “

Accordingly, the Lieutenant Governor hereby dismisses Zahir Abbas, Teacher in School Education Department with immediate effect, the order added. A similar worded order has been passed as regards Naika. (GNS)
