Three terrorists believed to be trapped in gunfight in Sunderbani sector of Jammu

 

Jammu, Oct 28: Heavy exchange of firing is in progress between terrorists and the security forces in an ongoing encounter triggered after terrorists fired upon an army vehicle early morning on Monday near the Line of Control here in the Sunderbani sector of Jammu.

Official sources said that terrorists early morning on Monday fired upon an army ambulance in Battal Keri-Jogwan area near the Line of Control in Sunderbani sector of Akhnoor in Jammu.

“Terrorists believed to be three have been spotted near Assan Mandir, Battal in Khour area of Sunderbani sector of Akhnoor,” said police.

They said that the terrorists fired some rounds on Army ambulance following which the area was cordoned off and joint search operation was launched by Police and Security forces.

“The terrorists fired upon the search team, which was retaliated and gunfight triggered,” they said adding that no injury was reported on own side in the firing while the cordon is laid and the operation is in progress.

However, the Army said that the terrorists fired upon a convoy near Asan in Sunderbani Sector, targeting Army vehicles in the morning.

“Swift retaliation by own troops ensured foiling of the attempt ensuring no injuries. The area has been cordoned off, and a search operation to neutralize the terrorists is ongoing,” said Army.
