Three-tier security for counting of votes at SKICC: DEO Srinagar

 

Srinagar, June 3 : A three-tier security arrangement has been put in place at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Complex (SKICC) where the counting of votes for Srinagar Parliamentary constituency will take place on Tuesday.

“Elaborate arrangements are in place for the counting of votes at SKICC amid a three-tier security setup will take care for the peaceful and smooth counting of votes on Tuesday,” Returning Officer, Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat told media persons at SKICC on Monday.

He said the counting process will start at 8 am on Tuesday for Srinagar parliamentary constituency which consists of 18 segments.

Separate counting centres have been established at SKICC with elaborate arrangements put in place for the all 18 segments of the Srinagar parliamentary constituency as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, Bhat said.

“We have stuck to the ECI guidelines with respect to the infrastructure about the counting of votes that has been placed in a fair and clear manner here at the SKICC,” he added.

More than 800 counting staff will participate in the process during different rounds of the process.

Bhat said first of all the counting of Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) and postal ballots will be counted and subsequently the process of counting of votes of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will take place.

He said counting agents of all the political parties participated in the elections who had applied for identity cards, elaborate arrangements had been put in place for them also.

He said for the past two weeks the counting agents were provided necessary training along with the staff so that the counting process will continue peacefully.

“As everybody cooperated during the poll process which went off peacefully and meticulously now our full focus is on the counting of polling which should happen in a very transparent, fair and to maintain parity has been taken good care”, Bhat said.

He said that mobile phones will not be allowed at the SKICC counting centre.“We have established a counter for the deposit of mobile phones at the SKICC,” he added.
