Ankara, Dec 8: Turkey is ready to cooperate with regional and international actors to rebuild Syria after militants overran Damascus overnight, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Sunday.

“The new administration must be established in an orderly manner. The principle of inclusiveness must never be compromised. There must never be a desire for revenge. It is time to unite and reconstruct the country … We will continue cooperation with regional and international actors,” Fidan told a news briefing on the sidelines of the 2024 Doha Forum.

Syria’s territorial integrity and unity must be preserved, Fidan added.

The top Turkish diplomat also urged the international community to support the Syrian people, adding that “millions of Syrians who were forced to leave their homes can return to their land.”

Fidan also said that he was unaware of Syrian President Bashar Assad’s whereabouts, adding that he was likely outside of Syria.
