PAMPORE, September 23:Police Station Pampore organised a special programme with the students of Government Boys Higher Secondary School Pampore. As part of the initiative, the students actively participated in traffic management at Tanchbagh and Khrew Adda during peak traffic hours.
The drive was led by SDPO Pampore R.P Singh along with SHO Pampore Khalid Fayaz.
The programme aimed to create awareness among students about road safety, discipline, and the importance of smooth traffic regulation. By engaging youth directly in managing traffic, the event also sought to instill a sense of responsibility and community service among them.
Police Pampore appreciated the efforts of the participating students and emphasised that such programmes strengthen police-public cooperation while spreading awareness on traffic rules and road safety.
Speaking to Kashmir Convener, Rasiq Manzoor, a student, said that they were educating people about traffic rules under the initiative organized by Police Station Pampore. He added that SDPO Pampore R.P. Singh and SHO Pampore Khalid Fayaz were also present during the drive.
“We are making people aware of how important helmets and seat belts are. Not wearing them can put your life at risk, while helmets and seat belts are meant for your safety,” he said.
Another student, Aman Gowher, told Kashmir Convener, that they got an opportunity from the J&K Police to educate people about traffic rules. “During this awareness drive, we are highlighting the importance of wearing helmets for two-wheelers and seat belts for four-wheelers. We are working in groups to spread awareness among people about how essential helmets and seat belts are for their safety. I thank Pampore Police for giving us this opportunity,” he said.
He further added, “The message we are conveying is that those who don’t wear helmets or seat belts are risking their lives. Life is precious, and we should not play with it. Today, we got this chance to interact with people and explain why wearing helmets and seat belts is necessary. We have done our part, and we will continue spreading this awareness in the future as well.”
