Budgam, Nov 14: PDP candidate Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi has extended his lead to 2,100 votes in the Budgam Assembly by-election after the completion of the sixth counting round on Friday.

According to figures from the counting centre, the contest remains primarily between PDP’s Aga Muntazir and NC’s Aga Syed Mahmood Al Mosavi, with the PDP candidate widening the gap as counting progresses.

Officials said eleven rounds of counting are still pending and vote margins may shift further as ballots from additional segments are taken up.

Counting is underway under tight supervision and the final picture will emerge as the remaining rounds continue. [KNT]
