Srinagar, June 11 : “Brari Maej” temple in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district was opened after more than 30-years and devotees, including a good number of Kashmiri pandits, performed Pooja on Tuesday.

The temple situated at the Murran village is surrounded by mighty Chinars all around with a big and beautiful spring having crystal clear water.

The temple was closed more than 30-years ago after Kashmiri pandits migrated to other parts of the country following the eruption of militancy in Kashmir valley.

A large number of Kashmiri pandits including those who had come from Jammu and other parts of the country, assembled in the temple this morning and performed pooja and ‘Hawan’.

The local villagers had also rendered a helping hand to bring the temple back to its original shape on the occasion.

A Kashmiri Pandit Bodh Raj Bhat who had come from Delhi to participate in the ‘Hawan’ said that the ‘Yagya’ was held in the Brari Maej temple after about 50 years.

“I have come first from Delhi after migrating from the valley in 1990 to participate on the occasion”, Bhat told media persons.

He said the local people were always supportive and still they are more cooperative. “There was a good brotherhood relationship between the different communities”, the Kashmiri Pandit said and added “but some unpleasant situation arose that forced us to migrate from here”.

“I got an opportunity to meet my childhood friends here today”, said another Kashmiri pandit who had migrated from the Muran village more than 30-years-ago.

He said ‘it was an emotional reunion with my classmates and my neighbours’.
