Tel Aviv/Tehran, March 7 : The Israeli military has warned that it will continue pursuing every successor of Iran’s slain supreme leader, as Iran’s clerical body, the Assembly of Experts, has announced that it has chosen Khamenei’s successor, though has refused to make his name public.
In a post on X in Persian, the IDF warned it will also pursue every person who either seeks to appoint a successor for the recently killed Ali Khamenei, or is a candidate themselves, threatening to eliminate members of the clerical body.
“After neutralising the tyrant Khamenei, the terrorist regime of Iran is attempting to rebuild itself and select a new leader,” the IDF wrote.
“Iran’s Assembly of Experts, which has not convened for decades, will soon gather in the city of Qom. We want to tell you that the hand of the State of Israel will continue to pursue every successor and every person who seeks to appoint a successor.
“We warn all those who intend to participate in the successor selection meeting that we will not hesitate to target you either.”
Making little remarks on the matter, Mohsen Heydari, a representative of Khuzestan province in the assembly, said the decision had been made following deliberations among the body’s members, with the most “capable candidate” chosen by the group, while making it clear that the US will have no role in choosing a successor for the Islamic Republic, and vowing to fight on against the “Great Satan.”
