INDIA Bloc launches joint campaign against BJP in Tripura

Agartala, Mar 22 : Eight parties of the INDIA bloc on Friday launched a joint campaign for two Lok Sabha seats of Tripura, and by-elections to Ramnagar Assembly constituency targeting to reach every booth of the state against BJP candidates, said senior Congress legislator and INDIA bloc convener Sudip Roy Barman.

Terming the BJP-led NDA as a “fascist force”, Roy Barma urged the voters to apply their minds and vote “judiciously” in favour of the INDIA bloc candidates in the Lok Sabha elections against the ruling BJP. He criticized the central government for mobilizing ED to arrest the Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal and alleged, “Modi and Amit Shah are riding on a mad horse, forgetting the democratic tradition of India.”

“Despite having differences on ideological grounds, we come together to save the Constitution, democracy, secularism and federal nature of the country besides for the sake of the overall interest of the people,” Roy Barma, a former BJP minister, told the media.

Criticizing the BJP government led by Narendra Modi, he claimed that despite many pre-poll assurances before the general elections of the country in 2014, the BJP government in the last ten years has not fulfilled any commitments, but they made the lives of common people miserable.

Highlighting the Congress’s 5 ‘Nyay’, 25 guarantees, Sudip said that leaders of the INDIA bloc have decided to reach out to every household with promises for the youth, women, wagers, farmers, and the marginalized sections.

Asserting that the country is seeking a change, he claimed the party’s Lok Sabha election manifesto would focus on ensuring justice to people based on five “Nyay pillars” and claimed the BJP’s ‘guarantees’ would meet the same fate as the ‘India Shining’ slogan of 2004.

Roy Barman said that since its inception, Modi government using all government agencies and “misuse” of agencies including, ED, CBI, and Income Tax are only continuously destabilizing the opposition parties, disturbing state governments, and forming BJP-led government through horse-trading.

He criticized Tripura royal scion and TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma accusing him of betrayal politics with innocent tribals of the state and alleged that after so-called slogans of protecting community interests and rights, Pradyot finally fielded his elder sister from Chhattisgarh in fray as a BJP candidate for personal gain.

“TIPRA Motha has been playing with the sentiments of tribals from the very first day, but now the people of Tripura understand their betrayal and beneficial politics of Pradyot Kishore whom both tribal and non-tribal respect for his forefather but he cheated the people of the Tripura, Roy Barman added.
