Ankara, Mar 27 : Istanbul will host the fourth edition of the European Games in 2027, Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu said on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, the Executive Committee of the European Olympic Committees (EOC ExCOM) awarded the fourth edition of the games to Istanbul.

“Today we feel enthusiasm for a historic day in the name of sports, Istanbul, and our country. We feel proud that the 2027 European Games will take place in Turkey, in our city,” the mayor told a press conference, adding that the city authorities are also preparing to host the 2036 Olympic Games as there is such a possibility.

The European Games are held every four years, and the first edition was held in Baku in 2015.
