Olympic Medalist Sushil Kumar, prime accused in Sagar Dhankar murder case prays for modification of interim bail

New Delhi, May, 27: Olympic Medalist Wrestler Sushil Kumar one of the accused in the Sagar Dhankar murder case on Monday prayed for modifications of July 19, and August 1,2023 interim bail order in Rohini Court, Delhi.

Counsel for Kumar moved an application before the court and sought the modifications of the interim bail order of July 19 and August 1, 2023.

Additional Session Judge Sushil Kumar after hearing the prayer on behalf of Kumar said, ” Perusal of the reply received from the office of the Jail Superintendent concerned shows that he had received total cost of interim bail charges of Rs.3,75,555/-, however, only a sum of Rs.80,000/- was deposited on behalf of applicant/accused Sushil Kumar despite intimation”.

Counsel for the applicant/accused Sushil Kumar undertakes that all the dues about interim bail charges shall be cleared by the accused Sushil Kumar within a week from today.

The court said, “Given the same, be put up the case for further proceedings to June 3, 2024.

Sushil Kumar, along with others, is accused of allegedly assaulting former Junior National wrestling Champion Dhankar and his friends in the parking lot of the Chhatrasal Stadium, Delhi on May 4, 2021 over an alleged property dispute.

Dhankar later succumbed to his injuries during treatment in the hospital and as per the post-mortem report, he died due to cerebral damage.
