Over Rs 421 cr recovered in Maha ahead of LS polls: ECI

 

Mumbai, Apr 17 : According to the Election Commission, various departments of the central and state governments have confiscated a total of Rs 421.41 crore. The amounts accounts for cash, liquor, drugs, freebies, precious metals, and other items, according to State Chief Election Officer and Principal Secretary S Chokkalingam.

In his press statement, he stated that as per the pre poll action implemented in the state by the commission implementing the model code of conduct, Bharari teams, the Static Survey Team (SST), the Video Survey Team (VST), and the Video Inspection Team (VVV), have been appointed at the state and district levels.

The teams have seized Rs 39.10 crore in cash, 33,56,323 litres of liquor worth Rs 27.18 crore; 11,42,498 grams of Amla worth Rs 212.82 crore between March 1 and April 11.

Contraband substances like drugs, besides 290.61kg of precious metals worth Rs 63.82 crore; 51,272 freebies worth Rs 47 lakh, and other items worth Rs 78.02 crore have been seized with a total value of Rs 421.41 crore, said Chokkalingam.
