PDP’s Parra accuses NC of following an attitude of arrogance

Srinagar, Mar 21: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Waheed Parra on Thursday accused the National Conference of following an attitude of arrogance over seat sharing and their party.

The statement is likely to widen the differences between the NC and PDP, who are the constituents of INDIA alliance in Jammu and Kashmir along with the Congress.

Parra, who is a close aide of Mehbooba Mufti, said during previous elections for the district development councils or on other issues, the alliance (the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration) worked well for the last five years.
“If Omar (Abdullah) Sahib or Farooq (Abdullah) Sahib had asked Mehbooba (Mufti) Ji to give all three seats of Kashmir to them to keep people united, we would have readily complied. However, their dismissal of the PDP’s very existence, saying the party doesn’t exist and doesn’t have a vote, comes across as arrogant,” Parra told reporters in south Kashmir.

The PDP leader didn’t stop there. He alleged that the NC wanted a narrative where the people should fight against each other.

“They want to shift the goalpost so that instead of making it a fight against the BJP, the narrative should be the NC versus PDP, and they have succeeded in it,” he said.

Parra said that after the abrogation of Article 370, the PDP has been talking about Kashmiris being vocal on issues.
“Because of this, they didn’t break the NC; they didn’t break the Congress; they only broke the PDP. They first dismantled the PDP government and then broke the party,” he said.

He said that the NC’s present three MPs have miserably failed to raise people’s voices after abrogation of Article 370.
Parra went on further and said Mehbooba Mufti’s voice would represent Kashmiris better in the parliament.
