PM Modi to visit Darjeeling in West Bengal on March 9

 

Kolkata, Mar 7 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit the Darjeeling district in West Bengal on March 9 and lay foundation stones for some development projects.

The projects include the expansion of North Bengal’s lone Airport at Bagdogra, the elevation of the highway linking Darjeeling hills and neighboring Himalayan state of Sikkim. He will also address a rally near Siliguri, BJP Bengal unit President Sukanta Majumdar said on Thursday.

Darjeeling MP, Raju Bista said the Prime Minister is scheduled to address a rally at Kawakhali after addressing the official functions on Saturday.

Sources said Modi will lay the foundation stone for the new terminal for Bagdogra Airport, which is being expanded at a cost of over Rs 3000 crore.

He will perform bhumi pujan for the construction of the new terminal for Bagdogra Airport.

The Civil Aviation Ministry and Airports Authority of India (AAI) will start the construction of the new terminal and allied infrastructure at the Airport.

The Union government has provisionally earmarked Rs 3,000 crore for the project. The tender process of Rs 1,000 crore has been completed.
