Women contributing in nation building, motivating to be self-reliant: CGM J&K NABARD

Jammu, Mar 7 : Sensitizing about the importance of women led development in the society, Chief General Manager, NABARD Jammu and Kashmir Regional Office, Jammu, Bhallamudi Sridhar on Thursday said that women are contributing in the development of the nation and also motivating to be self-reliant.

Speaking at the event organised as a part of “International Women’s Day – 2024 Celebration” by NABARD J&K, Sridhar discussed the importance of women’s contribution in development and inspired them to become self-reliant.
Successful women from different fields were invited as participants to attend the occasion on women empowerment.
He also spoke about tailor made development initiatives for active participation of women at all stages.

Varuna Anand, Chairperson, FICCI, FLO, JKL motivated the participants to be self-reliant and successful entrepreneurs. In this event, Professor Amisha Gupta, Jammu University, inspired the participants to become successful businesswomen by getting higher education and technical education.

Professor Jyoti Kachroo, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Jammu, discussed in detail the important role of women in agriculture and agriculture and agriculture allied activities and highlighted their significant contribution in these sectors. He stressed on increasing one’s income and becoming self-reliant by starting an Agri Startup to increase their income and lifestyle.

Namrita Dogra, Additional Secretary, State Tax (J&K) highlighted the role of women in development and empowerment of women. She motivated women to come forward in administrative services. Women members of self-help groups from various districts of J&K also participated in this program.

Stalls were set up by various SHG members in NABARD Office, Jammu. Women members of self-help groups showcased their products and got a chance to sell their products during this event. NABARD shared the energy, inspiration and excellence of women and honored their excellent works and raised awareness about the contribution of women in the society and supported them to become self-reliant.

On this occasion, NABARD General Manager Sandeep Sharma, Sohan Lal, Assistant General Manager and other officers and staff were also present. In the end, General Manager Anamika presented the vote of thanks.
